How to Get Started

What's Coming: Experiential Therapy (Spring 2026)

What's Coming: Experiential Therapy (Spring 2026)

1.  Click here to verify your coverage through Headway.

Yes, there are forms.  They're annoying but necessary.  It takes about 5-10 minutes.

2.  Schedule your intake appointment.  Once your insurance is verified, come back and book your first session.  Simple as that.

Having trouble?  It happens.  Give Tom a call or email.  He's the office manager.  He's patient, kind, and somehow enjoys figuring out paperwork with clients.  Some things remain a mystery.

Not everyone processes issues or finds solutions by sitting still inside 4 walls talking about personal things to someone you just met.

Our brains work differently when we're active, such as walking, creating something, or doing something with our hands.  Motion has been shown to reduce amygdala access (the brain's anxiety headquarters) while increasing utility of our prefrontal cortex (where the problem-solving magic happens).  You know this already if you pace while on the phone.

Ok, What's Experiential Therapy?

Experiential Therapy is simply activity-based sessions.  It's for people who need to be doing something while processing their thoughts and feelings.

This will be in-person sessions, held outdoors, weather permitting, in Egg Harbor Twp, NJ.

Walk-and-Talk therapy - we walk the trails on a 23 acre property while we work.  Movement helps ease anxiety and makes conversations easier for many people.

A Note about Things we Make

Ok, What's Experiential Therapy?

Wood-working-based therapy- we build something while we talk.  Creating things with wood grounds us by engages multiple senses at once - keeping us in the present moment, naturally reducing anxiety.  The repetitive motions have a similar calming effect as meditation, without requiring you to sit still.

Items created during an experiential therapy session are sold online with 100% of proceeds going toward sliding-scale therapy for underinsured clients.  Your work helps someone else get help.

Virtual therapy will still always be available.

One More Thing

A Note about Things we Make

A Note about Things we Make

Therapy is hard work.  It requires honesty, effort, and willingness to be uncomfortable.  If you show up and do the work, things can actually change.

If you're tired of the bullshit and ready to actually figure things out, let's talk.
